IMPORTANT PRE-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS

Dear Patient,

You are scheduled for eye surgery at Empire Surgery Center, which is located at:

4101 Empire Drive, Ste. 130, Bakersfield, CA 93309.

PLEASE ARRIVE NO LATER THAN YOUR SCHEDULED ARRIVAL TIME!

If you miss your scheduled surgery, you may be charged a non-refundable cancellation fee of $100.

It is very important that you carefully review and follow all preoperative instructions you have received. Please make sure to closely adhere to the following prior to and the day of your surgery:

  • Please note that YOUR EYES MAY BE DILATED for the surgery and your vision might be temporarily blurry afterward. Consider arranging for a driver, so you do not have to drive yourself with potentially impaired vision.
  • ARRANGE FOR A DRIVER on the day of your surgery. Your vision will be too blurry to drive yourself! It is also recommended that you have someone responsible stay with you for at least 24 hours after surgery.
  • ARRANGE FOR AN INTERPRETER, if you have trouble speaking or understanding English. You will need to be able to communicate with the English-speaking staff.
  • PLEASE BRING A MASK or cloth face covering with you on the day of your procedure. No patients will be admitted with a face-covering per CDC and local health department requirements.
  • DO NOT ENTER THE FACILITY ON ARRIVAL, you will wait in your VEHICLE until someone from our facility calls you. Please ensure you have your cell phone with you and that it is the same number we have in our system. A staff member will call you when we are ready to bring you inside to obtain a description of your vehicle and will come to your car to perform your infection screening form and temperature check prior to bringing you into the building. PLEASE leave your air conditioning ON in your vehicle while you wait, as warmer outdoor temperatures can easily increase your body temperature and disqualify you for surgery, although you might not actually have a fever.
  • Because of the current regulations surrounding COVID-19, YOU CAN NOT BRING ANY VISITORS INTO THE SURGERY CENTER WITH YOU. Ideally, we can use the telephone on speakerphone with one of your family members to accomplish all translation on the day of your surgery. If you specifically require in-person translation, your translator will also be screened for infection control, will be required to bring a cloth face covering or mask, and will be asked to wait in the vehicle until we are specifically ready for them.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call the ACE Surgical Coordinator at 661-215-1007.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we do our best to provide your medical care while keeping our staff and our patients safe and healthy.  We appreciate your compliance with all preoperative instructions and look forward to seeing you for your surgery.

Kind regards,

The ACE Surgery Team
